Liam is 3 Months Old!

I've been posting about Liam's month birthdays on Instagram and Facebook, but I figured that now that I have a family blog, I'll switch over to here.

I feel like Liam has changed a lot this past month! He's into 3 month clothes now because he's too wide for the NB and 0-3's. They're still baggy on him because he's skinny, but he's just way too tall now! Unfortunately that also means that he's grown out of the one lighter swaddler that we had for him, so we can only use it with the bottom zipped open, which results in us finding some interesting configurations when he wakes up.

I wish that I had taken a picture of it the other day. He had kicked so much that
the swaddle wasn't on his legs at all and was riding up quite a bit, it was pretty funny
Putting his old clothes away was kind of bittersweet because I love some of those outfits, but it's also been fun to pull out some new ones!

We just got a window AC put in this week, so before then it got pretty dang hot in our apartment. So Liam spent quite a bit of time just in a diaper. We even went without socks one day and couldn't stop looking at his cute little feet! We never see them because he's always in socks, haha

This kid sweats like nobody's business, just like his cousin Shae.

With it being so hot, he's been out of a swaddler or blanket more often. He's still not very good at sleeping with his arms out though if he's not being held, so he startles awake a lot when he's in the swing (which is really funny to see, but I feel bad for the poor guy!) as well as when he's in the bassinet.

At first we thought that he had just grown into his hair, but there's no denying now that he's losing a lot of it.

It's more obvious when his hair is wet.

He gets some pretty solid bedhead

I don't seem to have a great picture of his bedhead, but it gets exciting

This one's hard to see, but he's tends to get a tall, pointy faux-hawk

Liam is moving around more than ever now! One day he moved himself a foot or two over while doing tummy time. We think that it's because he would lift his head and then veer to the right when his head fell.

He eventually made it from the center of the blanket
all the way to the couch!
He also managed to get on his side one day.

And another day he was on his back and somehow rotated 180°

A friend gave us a play mat for Liam and it's been fun to watch him start to try to move his arms on purpose. One day he hit his hand on one of the hanging toys a couple of times and then all of a sudden I saw him focus and try to get his hand to touch the toy on purpose. It's crazy how much effort he had to put into it!

Fritz LOVES the play mat even more than Liam does and will play with it even while Liam is on it! Part of me wants to let Fritz enjoy it, but 1- I don't want him to rip it to shreds and 2- I don't want him to hurt Liam. He's swiped at him playfully a few times, so I've had to keep a close eye on him.

I tried to make a tent out of the play gym the other day, but the blanket wasn't quite big enough...

Liam is grabbing things a lot more now, but hasn't figured out how to do it on purpose yet or how to let go once he has it in his hand. This happened with the play mat where he ended up stuck with his arm up holding the rings for quite a while.

He also grabbed his blanket one day and had it stuck there, so just kept moving his arms with the blanket in his hand.

Anytime we hold him upright, he HAS to look around. So he holds his head up as much as he possibly can. This means that our faces get crashed into fairly often. Sometimes he takes a break against my face.

We have given Liam a couple of actual baths now rather than only showering. He was NOT happy for the first one...

...but seemed to really enjoy the one today!

Liam smiles and coos all the time now and it's my favorite! I started working this month and it's been hard leaving him, but coming home to him being so happy to see me is the best :)

We've come to realize that Liam has a sixth sense. He can tell when there's a camera on. Even from the beginning, he always stops doing whatever we're trying to record as soon as the camera is on, and will resume once it's off again. This has made it really hard to get good videos of the noises and faces that he makes. I got a pretty good picture of him smiling yesterday though!

Liam loves to chomp on his hands, snuggle with us, look at everything at all times, and kick his legs.

I may or may not occasionally fall asleep after/during nighttime feedings

He still loves the armpit!

He still isn't totally sold on sleeping in the bassinet, but is getting a lot better! He definitely sleeps for way longer if we're holding him or have him in bed with us though.

We sure love our sweet, funny boy! Happy 3 months Liam!
