4 Months Old in a New State

Had to see if his baby blessing outfit fits since we still haven't done his blessing.
I've gotta say, I LOVE this outfit, but it's definitely not comfy cozy,
so his blessing day is probably the only other time he'll ever wear it.

Man oh man this has been a crazy month. We moved cross-country from Idaho to Pennsylvania to live with my parents for a while, which means that we drove for four days with a baby and a cat, with no air conditioning (it broke). Liam was an absolute CHAMP all through the trip and the first couple of days here in PA, but four month regression came a few days early and this week has been a bit rough so far. My normally very chill, happy baby has been a lot fussier. BUT when he's not whining, he's been VERY cute.

Some things about Liam this month:

He still sweats to death, resulting in some pretty fun bed head at times

He's recently discovered that he has ears and has taken to playing with them while he eats.

Speaking of eating, driving cross-country, I had to get creative with feeding him because it was WAAAAAAY to hot to feed him in the car when we stopped. The strangest was breastfeeding him sitting at an arcade driving game:

...but he also got fed in a national park visitor's center, outside with me leaning up against a tree, on benches inside and outside of rest areas, and then there was my favorite. At one rest area, there were no benches, only stools in front of little charging stations. I needed to sit somewhere and wanted to stay inside, so I plopped onto a stool and started feeding Liam. A lady that worked there asked if I wanted a comfier chair and invited me to use her spinny-chair in the office. It was SO nice after so many uncomfortable feedings. She even turned a fan on for us and told me that she thought that it was wonderful that I was breastfeeding him. She had wanted to breastfeed her children, but it didn't work out. She was absolutely lovely and it made me feel seen.

Breastfeeding has been a bumpy road and still has it's issues. Liam's feedings have been all over the place and his latch seems to be getting worse. I was really happy to see the little lines around his lip one day after a feeding though that showed that he had latched on well that time:

Liam has gotten really into chomping. He'll chomp a pacifier, Jonathan's finger, his blankets/burp cloths, and his own hands if nothing else is available. He's been learning how to suck his thumb and it's been pretty funny watching him. One day he got his thumb into his mouth, but wasn't sure what to do with his other fingers and ended up poking himself in the eye.

Liam had a lot of firsts this month. First time meeting grandparents, first hotel stay, first time out of the state (and now he's been to/through 7 states!), first national park, first time using a changing table in a public place, and on and on and on.

Enjoying story time with Grandpa
First hotel (now he's been to four)

I was trying to get a picture of his fantastic frowny face.
He made it after a very loud toilet flush. He's still got his camera-sense though
and stopped when I pulled out my phone to take a picture.
Unfortunately I didn't get any good pictures at Grand Teton National Park.
I hate to admit it, but I slept through most of our time there. Moving is exhausting.

Caught Jonathan talking

Liam also had his first ever in-church sacrament meeting this past Sunday!!!

Tried and failed to get a good picture of him in the cute outfit that Grandma
gave him that he wore to his first sacrament meeting

Liam also met his Uncle Philip for the first time this month as well as one of his sets of honorary grandparents; the Evans!

Liam has continued to bald in his strange way. Most babies that I've seen rub off the sides or the back of their heads. Liam somehow has been balding in two giant parts, leaving an island of hair in the middle. He's starting to grow some new hair underneath now, but for most of the month he was just balding.

This picture cracks me up

In other news, Fritz has finally discovered that he likes the bassinet. He never went into it while we were in Idaho, but then Jonathan told me that he had taken up residence.

Seeing him with his head flat against the side reminded me
of Prince John from Robin Hood

Anyway, I honestly can't believe how big Liam is getting! He rolled over for the first time earlier this week and I missed it! Dad came and told Jonathan and I that Liam had rolled over. He hasn't done it since. He is VERY wiggly though. He moves around all over the place on the play mat and has been using his legs and feet a lot more. He has started grabbing the hanging toys with his feet at times and discovered splashing in the bath tub this week. He also just shifts himself around a ton when we hold him.

I just took this one and the next one this morning. I put him down at a 90 degree different angle\
than he is in this picture and he had managed to pull the sides in

Grabbing things with his feet

He started upright. He did this himself

Happy four months Liam!!!
