We've Got a Two Year Old!

I made both the cake and frosting from scratch and
am quite proud of myself for it

*All other pictures are at the end of the post, so if you're just here for pictures, that's where they are. I couldn't decide which ones to use, so am just dumping them all in at the end πŸ˜…*

I was hoping to get a video put together like I did last year, but life has been a bit too busy. But I couldn't let today go by without sharing this cute boy's face!

Liam turned two today!

He had his first eer birthday party last weekend and it was so much fun! He still didn't quite know what to do with the candle, so I ended up accidentally blowing it out while trying to get him to blow on it πŸ˜…

Liam's favorite things right now are cars, trains, and his bath finger paints.

He's been trying out WAY more words lately, which has been so fun! He loves to identify body parts (and makes sure to scoop under my glasses to poke at my eyes when he identifies them πŸ˜‘πŸ˜‚). He can say some colors, though it's unclear whether he actually knows what color each word represents.

If we try to get him to say "______ please" he usually says "pea-pease!" instead. He still signs please, more, and all done, though he does usually say please out loud now and sometimes says something to the effect of "nan-dan" for all done. He occasionally says more, but usually just "pea-pease".

Liam LOVES to run around at the playground in the big kid section. He likes to go down the big slide and has started practicing hanging onto the bars and rings.

He also loves playing with the trains and cars at the library and Barnes and Noble. He has his own train tracks now though, which he has been playing with almost non-stop since we set them up.

Most of Liam's friends are older kids (7-9), but he doesn't mind. They dote on him, as do the teens at church.

Liam loves to climb and get into things that he shouldn't. He recently discovered that he can pull dining room chairs into the kitchen and reach all sorts of things. Luckily he has thus far only done so when I'm in the kitchen doing something.

It's been a lot of fun watching the little things that he's picked up from watching us. When he helps me bake, he taps on the bottoms of the measuring spoons and cups to get every last bit out. I've watched him squeeze a Ziploc bag to his chest before trying to close it.

His favorite books lately have been Jamberry; Go Dog Go; Hand, Hand, Fingers, Thumb; and Where is Baby's Belly Button?

Liam still tends to be fairly solemn when we're out in public, but he has had a lot more cheerful, social moments lately! So that has been fun to see.

At home he's a silly, chatty little monkey.

He's gotten really in to smooshing his face on yours and wiping it around. Often with his mouth open so you get nice and slobbery. He's also gotten in to licking, which isn't great 😬

One of my favorite things about Liam right now is that he's gotten into hiding... and is terrible at it. πŸ˜‚

He will run away from me and then flatten himself out in the middle of the floor and he seems to think that that makes him invisible. He's also been known to hide behind gates that you can see through and behind the little table that Jonathan's laptop is on that you can easily see under. It cracks me up every single time. He has managed to successfully hide from me twice now though, so we'll see what happens in the next few months!

Overall, Liam is a fun-loving, goofy, car-loving, sweet little boy and we love him a ton!

Happy Birthday Liam! <3
